Bing Thom Architects and Ronald Lu & Partners (MVA acting as sub transport consultant for the team) win West Kowloon Cultural District Xiqu Centre Design Competition

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority announced BTA & RLP as the winning design for its First Arts Venue, of which MVA is lead transport consultant for the team.

The Xiqu Centre will be the first of seventeen core arts and cultural venues to be opened within the WKCD. Situated along the corner of Canton Road and Austin Road West, the Xiqu Centre will act as a gateway of access to the Cultural District.

MVA supported various shortlisted Bidders, hoping to implement appropriate traffic measures in order to facilitate both the development and operational processes of the Centre. The aim now is to develop a master plan for the Eastern Entrance to the WKCD, as well as a building concept for the Xiqu Centre. These designs will be developed within the overarching WKCD Master Plan with assurance they are buildable and cost-‐effective.

The West Kowloon Cultural District is a strategic investment by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative region to meet the growing demand in arts and culture infrastructure.
