Marina Bay Cruise Centre Traffic Study

SYSTRA MVA was appointed by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to study and analyse the arrival and departure profiles of 10 predetermined days with ships calling at Marina Bay Cruise Centre by way of marrying passenger streams with taxi and coach supply.

Following several incidents when the docking of two large cruise ships overwhelmed its facility and created traffic bottlenecks, the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore has implemented a set of upgrades. The Singapore Tourism Board decided to carry out a study to assess their efficiency and to look at further improvements.

SYSTRA MVA assessed the current traffic conditions such as internal traffic circulation, demand and supply of taxis and the optimization of space for a variety of operational needs. The study objectives were to identify major issues and to propose solutions and improvements and simulation model was prepared in order to look at the impact of different possible improvements.
